Funding Apps: From concept to development at SDU

In 2019, together with Maéva Vignes from SDU RIO, I conceptualized the first version of the Funding Apps — a suite of digital tools to streamline research funding, from grant research to proposal writing. At its heart was the Call Finder, a tool to help researchers and support managers discover and track funding opportunities.

I chose Python and Django as the foundation for its flexibility and scalability. After finalizing the technical concept and design, I prototyped the tool, setting up the Django project and crafting the overall design that the apps still inherit today.

Since then, the Funding Apps have been successfully deployed at SDU, and the team at SDU RIO has expanded the suite with new features and integrations. The tools have even been adopted by other universities in Denmark, proving their value beyond our initial vision.

More recently, I collaborated with SDU’s communication team to develop teaching materials, including videos (like the welcome video on the landing page), where I contributed both technical background and graphical expertise.
